I Love You, Man (7/10)
What Jason Segel's character said towards the end aptly summed up the movie, "Delightful".It was very entertaining, but not hilariously funny. It's a not-so-original take on a very good idea. It played out well albeit highly predictable. Definitely an ultimate bro-mance movie with all the rom-com cliches. Boy meets girl, fall in love, one makes mistake, gets into a fight, separates; but in the end gets back together. Classic. Just substitute the girl with another boy minus all the sexual acts. Well, to be fair, there was a couple of tongues in play. What worked well here were Jason Segel and Paul Rudd. They had the right chemistry to make it work. And I'm very pleasantly surprised with Segel's performance here. Very subdued and different, and worked very well in his favour. And because he was so subdued, he was mysterious as hell. We never knew what he would do next or whether he's a psychopath or just another version of Rudd's character. Also a very interesting note, Jon Favreau who wasn't as funny in Couples Retreat; had great chemistry here playing opposite Jamie Pressly and was just entertaining to no end. I would have loved to see more of him.In the end, however, the storyline is too typical. But for a movie of its genre, it had to be.
