Kick-Ass (9/10)

Best movie and just slightly below Up In The Air for me. And Up In The Air was way up there. For a comic adapted movie, this had one of the most original modern stories. The characters were great. The direction was brilliant (Matthew Vaughn - Stardust - so I shouldn't be surprised), the actors were fantastic, and the humour never stopped. There was even a dramatic scene which I can't get it out of my head. Fantastic movie. And I can't remember when was the last time Nicolas Cage was this good. That scene where Big Daddy was killing people in the warehouse was one of the best sequences. Where Hit-Girl went on her rescue mission, that was an awesome dramatic sequence. And that sequence's final bits where it slowed down and went into black and white, I could have jizzed in my pants. The scene when Red Mist first appeared on TV, you can just make out Christopher Mintz-Plasse blurred figure in the background popping up and watching in glee, hilarious.Aaron Johnson, Clarke Duke and Evan Peters were great playing the geeks. And Lindsy Fonseca brought in the sex appeal a little bit.Why didn't this score a 10? Because I did not agree with how Hit-Girl can become so good at fighting. Sure, sure, it's the comic genre but I would like to see how it was done. And why Hit-Girl was never captured was just baffling to me because the bad guys all know she was a threat as well. And that I thought was too huge a loophole. Why, then, did it score a 9? The good outweighed the bad too greatly.
