No Strings Attached (4/10)

Director Ivan Reitman had some hits and misses. This was a very disappointing miss for me.

I thought the writers and the direction just didn't truly gel. Going from scene to scene, sometimes it almost felt tedious. Nothing felt original from the writing effort. Every turn the movie took had no surprises so it was just like going through the motion and waiting for the movie to end.

On the bright side in this movie was that it had two beautiful lead actors that is Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher. This was Portman's first foray into a rom-com. Though she didn't shine, she didn't fail the movie as well. I would like to see her in another rom-com, but better written. As for Kutcher, there wasn't anything new from him; but again, he didn't fail the movie too.

The only more-interesting character here was Lake Bell's. I thought she portrayed her character really well, reminded me of one of Kristen Wiig's SNL characters that had the same annoying characteristic.

Other cast members such as Mindy Kaling, Kevin Kline, Ludacris and Cary Elwes weren't effective and had no room for growth.

Overall, a very forgettable piece of work that, I'm sorry to say (as I'm a huge Natalie Portman fan), shouldn't have been made.
