Horrible Bosses (7.5/10)

First off, I have to say because I watched this with a lot of the swearing and sexual references being censored off, a lot of those jokes were not presented to their fullest effects and hence may have affected the rating of the movie.

But this was a beautiful marriage of talents between Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day.
I'm not familiar at all with the work of Charlie Day because I've never watched It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia (but there's a good chance I might start now). And because of that, I found him to be a nice surprise with his blend of comedic style and high-pitched voice. And with mostly unknown writers creating this piece, - and maybe that's why - I thought it was very well written and somewhat fresh. What these guys write next will have to be equally strong and funny or they will just be another one-hit-wonder.

But in the middle of the movie I thought the pacing was a little slower and I wasn't sure what direction the movie was headed. I didn't want to just be bombarded with gags and unnecessary jokes as the story bordered that line when the trio went on their recon excapades.

The supporting cast was another huge reason why this movie was completely entertaining from start to finish. The last time Kevin Spacey was this fun to watch, to my recollection, was Superman Returns which I thought he was brilliant. The last time Jennifer Aniston was this fun to watch, was somewhere in the first five years of Friends. And as for Colin Farrel's character, the last time there was such a fun and almost unrecognisable character by a very famous actor was when Tom Cruise donned the fat suit in Tropic Thunder.

Plus the familiar faces of Donald Sutherland, Ioan Gruffudd, Jamie Foxx and Julie Bowen kept injecting and keeping up the fun factor throughout.

There were also a lot of hilarious one-liners dropped whenever possible. The insults and swearing thrown in in every scene didn't make the movie seemed trite and gimmicky. But it was the chemistry, of course, between the main trio that made the whole movie something that's just pure fun and entertaining.

However, I have a feeling that it was because the A-listers took a backseat while making way for the non-A-listers to be at the fore-front that made this project as enjoyable as it was. If the three main leads were made up of say, Jack Black, Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller; I don't think it would have done as well as they would have had brought nothing new to the table with their portrayals. Because these three faces we got can still be considered fresh, that's why they were interesting to watch. But I guess this was a job well done to the casting crew.

Nevertheless, I have to watch this again uncesored, probably only when the Blu-ray is out.
