Moreover, there's really nothing here to grasp on to. From the direction to the storytelling to the dialogue, everything felt watered down. Things happened because they needed to happen and the writers couldn't find a better way to make them happen, and we ended up with a less than sub-par action-animation.
The characters were shallow with no developments. The attempt at romance was skin-crawling uncomfortable. Even the action suffered from logic and continuity issues. One of the main problem was that the aliens were made to look too powerful with their lazers, from that they should have had no problems wiping out the humans. And yet that was obviously not how it ended.
Another silly issue was that sometimes guns couldn't penetrate the aliens' armour and yet sometimes they could. I was so confuse watching them.
In the end I was hoping for a twist or surprise in terms of storyline, something that the Japanese are fantastic for, but I got literally nothing.
Why did The Mall Cineplex bring this in?
