At first I thought this was Chronicles 2. The first half of this featurette looked very similar to Chronicles. But the last 30 seconds or so was where the difference was more obvious.
Afflicted is categorised as a horror film. And those last scenes looked very interesting and scary.
So far I have never heard about this movie, but it did win best director, best writer and best picture at the Fantastic Fest - as boasted on its official website. Scroll down and you'll get to see a clever picture featurette timeline and that, too, looked scary.
I'm quite over the whole "found footage" concept. But I understand what the creators were going for. Written and directed and starring Derek Lee and Clif Prowse, how they made this feel even more real was that they used their real names for the movie; as if it's really a found footage.
I'll definitely check this out once I have the opportunity to because at the moment this looks like an indie production that may or may not be bought over for a major international release.
