Leigh Whannel continues the Insidious story on his own this time, with characters created by himself for this new installment.
But putting more on his shoulders, he is in the director's chair for the first time and Insidious: Chapter 3 will be his directorial debut. James Wan only stepping in as the producer.
Starring Dermot Mulroney and Stefanie Scott as totally new characters, with Lin Shaye and Whannel himself reprising their characters from the first two movies, let's see if Whannel has the creative talent to do a movie on his own.
Releasing 29 May 2015, seems like still quite some time away, but having this first trailer drop on the Holloween season makes sense.
I, however, am not impressed with what I'm seeing. The short plot point shown in this trailer was predictable and frankly, the scare was quite rubbish. I didn't like it. But the second half was still decent.
Also, I noticed there are more and more uses of nursery-like songs but produced in very creepy versions to use in trailers. It's still fresh and interesting now but this could get old very quickly.
