It has been confirmed that 20th Century Fox has agreed to produce the long-awaited sequel to Independence Day.
This sequel is rumoured to see the return of Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum, but not Will Smith. Some were apprehensive about this news as Smith was the main star of the original movie; however, it was Goldblum that stole most of the limelight as well.
With the green light given, they can now proceed to secure director, Roland Emmerich, who also did the first one. The movie is also back on track for the previously reported release date of 24 June 2016 - almost exactly 20 years from the original.
No word yet on what the script will entail but hopefully we'll see a floppy disk being used to save the world once again.
