Roberto Orci No Longer Directing Star Trek 3
News just broke an hour ago, and for reasons that are still unknown, Roberto Orci is no longer attached to direct the third installment of Star Trek.
However, there are no plans yet to change the finished script that was written by Orci, Patrick McKay and J. D. Payne; but I'm guessing whoever is directing will have to make some minor, if not major, adjustments later on.
Especially when the director that is rumoured to take up the job is none other than Edgar Wright! Wright is a very stylized director and will definitely have to rewrite some stuff to fit into his direction.
There has been a lot of worry when Orci was first announced as the director for Star Trek 3 back in May because Orci has never directed anything before. And to take on a franchise like Star Trek as his first gig is not only a daunting task for him but also an unbelievable and unimaginable task for the rest of the world.
Let's see how this will play out, but looks like J. J. Abrams' departure to Star Wars left quite a black hole in Star Trek.
