Blunt And Chastain Joins The Huntsman
After losing Frank Darabont as director, faith for the movie dipped slightly. Taking over directing duty now is visual effects specialist, Cedric Nicolas-Troyan who was also the visual effects supervisor for the first movie, Snow White And The Huntsman.
But the movie still kept Darabont's script, and that script must have been something because now The Huntsman has just signed two-time Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt; both women who have been very good with selecting their roles of late.
They now join Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron who are reprising their roles.
The only one missing is Snow White herself, Kristen Stewart. Understandably so because the first movie was received with lukewarm response, and it was Theron who stole all the scenes. Hemsworth is a god on the silver screen, pun intended; so while the first one made enough money to warrant a sequel, it was inevitable that Snow White was written out in order to keep the franchise alive for another outing.
Another piece of information that the sequel has going for it is that Nicolas-Troyan has gained enough confidence by the studio to give him the reins to the remake of the fan-favourite Highlander. So The Huntsman will be a good indicator of what he can do with Highlander.
The Huntsman is scheduled for a 22 April 2016 release.
