Gordon-Levitt To Produce And Star In Fraggle Rock

Even though Fraggle Rock was produced more for an international audience as compared to Sesame Street, I have to say I have never heard of Fraggle Rock.

Both were actually made by The Henson Co., and Fraggle Rock made their TV debut back in 1983. Their big screen adaptation, however, have been in the works for nearly a decade with no traction.

But after seeing the success of The Muppets, perhaps there's more of a confidence now that this live-action adaptation could work. I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner, like right after the first Muppets movie with Jason Segel and Amy Adams.

Enter Joseph Gordon-Levitt. A fan himself, and one of the busiest and most talented young person working in Hollywood today. He has just been attached to produce and star in the movie.

In an exclusive interview with Variety, Gordon-Levitt said, "Jim Henson's characters make you laugh and sing, but they're also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I've never stopped loving his work, even as a young friskym man, and on into adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim (Henson) would have loved. I'm grateful and excited to be working with New Regency on this project."

No word yet on release date.
