Remember when it was reported that Chris Miller and Phil Lord have pulled out from directing The Lego Movie Sequel? Though, they will still produce and write the script, it was still quite a disappointment as they were the main reason why the first movie was so successful.
Now, it has just been reported that Miller and Lord are going to be writing for Warner Bros.' The Flash. Ezra Miller has already been cast as the titular character.
If we look at the timeline, and I'm purely speculating here, The Flash is scheduled to be released on 23 March 2018 while The Lego Movie Sequel is scheduled for 25 May 2018. Seeing as the duo will not be directing the Lego follow-up movie, could this mean it's because they already know they will be doing The Flash? There definitely is that possibility.
Given the tone of The Flash character and his humorous personality, I see Miller and Lord as a good fit to not just write the script, but also direct. And if I were them, of course I'll rather do The Flash - because this would give them a more diverse and different experience under their belt.
We'll just have to wait and see.
