Michelle MacLaren Exits Wonder Woman As Director
Warner Bros. and DC look like are still trying to find their feet when it comes to building this universe of theirs.
Merely five months in and Michelle MacLaren and Wonder Woman have parted ways due to "creative differences". Although this could very well be in the same vein as Edgar Wright and Ant-Man situation, but that happened only after five years. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has evolved in that five years that Wright's vision for the story no longer fit in to the MCU.
Whereas for Wonder Woman, it just feels like the same case as the announcement date for Batman v Superman which ultimately was delayed for one whole year. At this point, DC still feels very wishy washy and unsure of themselves.
I wonder if they initially gave in to the hype of all the talks about being the first female superhero movie so they tried to go with the first female director.
But, credit to them too for being able to call it quits now than to soldier on and create something that is less than satisfactory.
No change in the release date of Wonder Woman as of now, it is still scheduled for 23 June 2017 - plenty of time to get another director.
