Joe and Anthony Russo have become some of Marvel's top directors, so much so that they are even become commodities that could be "loaned" to Sony, in a deal that partly gave Marvel the use of Spider-Man!
It has been speculated and rumoured for months and now the word is official. The Russos will be directing the two-parter Avengers: Infinity War - a promise to fans of the biggest blow-up of any comic book movie to date, with big bad Thanos against everyone in the Marvel universe, including Spider-Man! (Excluding X-Men and Fantastic Four.)
As Captain America: The Winter Soldier turned out so awesomely, their vision for Captain America: Civil War must have also been outstanding for Marvel to hand over the reins of Avengers to them.
But a Captain America movie and an Avengers movie are totally different, of course. And I don't just mean the scale of it all, but having so many characters squeezed into one movie, that takes artistry and a focused vision. Let's hope the Russo brothers can complement each other well in those two aspects.
