Adam McKay, at one time his name was being floated around to direct Ant-Man, the director who so far has only made a name for himself in comedies; is now surprising all of his critics as he puts together this star-studded cast for his upcoming project, The Big Short.
On top of directing, he will also be co-adapting it with Charles Randolph from a non-fiction book by Michael Lewis titled, The Big Short: Inside The Doomsday Machine. Lewis is also known for his other work that has been adapted for the silver screen, Moneyball and The Blind Side - both of which were Oscar contenders for Best Motion Picture Of The Year.
So can we expect The Big Short to be in that caliber as well? It's entirely up to McKay but with his choice of cast, it certainly looks like it.
The A-list names are Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale and Steve Carell - all Oscar nominated or winners. The smaller names are Marisa Tomei and Melissa Leo - both of which are Oscar winners!
So it's really up to McKay now to bring it home. Filming has already begun and the movie will be released some time in 2016. Paramount Pictures, Plan B Entertainment and New Regency are producing and distributing the movie.
