I just mentioned this in my thoughts on Simon Pegg's Absolutely Anything trailer, whether Kate Beckinsale would have no choice but to go back to Underworld in order to gain some star power back.
And today it's being reported that a fifth installment of Underworld by Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems has been confirmed, with Beckinsale attached to reprise her role as Selene.
Also being reported is that a director has been confirmed, and it's going to be someone rather new in sitting in the director's chair, Anna Foerster, who has been a cinematographer and an assistant director for other big budget movies like White House Down and The Day After Tomorrow respectively.
The last Underworld movie, Awakening, was released back in 2012. Only a short three years ago and I don't even remember it. So far, this movie sounds more like a money grab rather than a jolt-back-to-life for the waning franchise.
Production will begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
