Shanghai Dawn Brings Back Chan And Wilson
MGM has confirmed another sequel for Shanghai Noon, which came out 15 years ago.
I can't believe it's been that long. Dumb And Dumber did feel like two decades ago, Zoolander did feel like 15 years ago, but maybe I just don't care that much about Shanghai Noon. Or maybe I'm just tired of Jackie Chan in Hollywood. I don't need to see Chan teaming up with another big Hollywood star for a buddy comedy. But strangely, I wouldn't mind seeing him in something like The Expendables (not that I'm a fan of that franchise).
Having said that, however, I did enjoy the original Shanghai Noon. Shanghai Knights was a step-down but there were still some redeeming qualities in it. And it has been a decade and a half already, so maybe reteaming Owen Wilson and Chan again could bring back that original magic just like Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels for Dumb And Dumber To.
No writer, director or date has been confirmed as of now.
