Unfriended (4/10)

This was not the movie that I thought I would watch. It did have a very favourable critics review, very surprisingly so. I had to check it out.

Plus, it's starring one of the most beautiful young actress in the business who isn't well known yet, Shelley Hennig. So it wasn't too difficult a decision to visit the cinema for her.

I could not understand why the positive reviews for this movie. It was very bland - not to be confused with the sudden appearance of a blender in a nerd's bedroom that's conveniently plugged in. Lame joke, I know. This movie was too.

The biggest problem was that the script was weak, the plot was weaker, and it wasn't scary. So many times in the beginning I wondered why wouldn't they just shut off their computers and carry on with their life. Oh right, because I'm too old to understand teenagers today.

Well, I probably am not the target audience for this movie but then again, the critics were? Nevertheless, one positive outcome was the public service announcement of cyber bully.

But I'm sure a sequel is about to begin since Unfriended looked like it was shot in just one day with a $500 budget. It's already raked in so much money and just go to show that Blumhouse Productions really know how to make a gigantic profit from all these cheap horror flicks.
