Dwayne Johnson To Star In 80's Arcade Game Rampage

Looks like another arcade game property is just about to get made into a full-length feature.

Rampage was released back in 1986 where it put its players as one of the three controllable monsters (George the giant ape, Lizzy the giant lizard, and Ralph the giant wolf) to wreak havoc across the United States.

Deadline has reported that New Line Cinema and producer Beau Flynn has cast Dwayne Johnson in the leading role. No word yet on who, or which monster, Johnson will play; but this will mark the fourth movie that Johnson and Flynn has collaborated - the other three being the recent San Andreas, Hercules and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

Johnson will start work on Rampage after finishing Fast And Furious 8, which is set to be released on 14 April 2017.

Rampage sounds like a suitable movie for Johnson to be part of, whether its going the Pixels route of being just crazy-fun, or if it will take a slightly more serious tone like San Andreas but sprinkled with comedic moments throughout. Either way, it's right up Johnson's wheelhouse.

No word yet on a release date for Rampage.
