Inspired by a true story, Captive is about a mother who is held as a captive by a father.
And that's about all we know of the story from this first trailer which was superbly cut, with a great song from Hillsong United - titled Oceans (Where Feet May Fail), I had to look it up.
I'm already hooked. Kate Mara's portrayal of a struggling mother plus David Oyelowo as a desperate father, two of the up-and-coming stars sold me on this trailer through their performances. We don't know why Oyelowo was jailed, nor why he escaped; and that's the beauty of this first trailer. I hope they keep it that way in the following trailers but I doubt it.
Michael Kenneth Williams looks great in this trailer too.
Directed by Jerry Jameson, Captive will be out on 18 September 2015.
