The Martian Swaps Opening Date With Victor Frankenstein
After the first trailer has been released to positive responses, 20th Century Fox has decided to move The Martian's opening date earlier, to 2 October 2015.
Taking its original spot of 25 November 2015 will be Victor Frankenstein, which initially had the October spot. This new take on the legendary character by director Paul McGuigan will star Daniel Radcliffe, James McAvoy and Jessica Brown Findlay.
The reason for this swap? Who knows what Fox is thinking? But an interesting fact to note is that the Oscar-winning movie for Best Picture back in 2013, Gravity, had that same October week opening. Is this Fox's way of saying that they have a good feeling about the new Ridley Scott and Matt Damon vehicle?
Also opening in that same week will be London Has Fallen, The Walk, and Bradley Cooper's Adam Jones.
Victor Frankenstein will now face off with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 and The Good Dinosaur.
