I had heard Chris Evans was going to do jump into directing some months ago, and now we have a first trailer for his directorial debut titled Before We Go.
At first glace, this has the exact same feel and plot as Before Sunrise. Though not written by Evans, it's about two people meeting by chance and spending the short time they have left of that rendezvous together and then falling in love.
It also has that same low-budget feel as Before Sunrise but at least Richard Linklater already has a certain and distinct style.
But what I thought was missing from the trailer was the identity of Evans as a director. None of the shots seen in the trailer spoke to me about who he is or what kind of style he has. Granted it's his first film and he's probably just finding his way, but I'm hoping for more in the next trailer or in the movie itself.
Starring Evans and Alice Eve, the movie will be out on 4 September 2015.
