One of the softer news that came out of San Diego Comic Con last weekend was the new Green Lantern movie.
I say "soft" because it wasn't too much of a news, just an official title since its release date has already been announced - a date that's still too far away to get too excited about as things could still change at this point with DC and Warner Bros.
The official title is Green Lantern Corps while the release date is 19 June 2020. Notice that this will be after the year Justice League: Part Two comes out.
While I don't believe that Warner Bros. will wait till 2020 before introducing a new Green Lantern to be in Justice League, I think we'll get a Green Lantern only in the first Justice League, which is set to release on 10 November 2017. Not unless the producers are cramming him into Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice as well.
But a Green Lantern Corps movie sounds like the right a right foot forward. We really don't need to see another origin story for this character. But a movie about a world of Green Lanterns will definitely up the ante from the previous incarnation, which was led by Ryan Reynolds who is already making fun of it in that Comic Con clip he showed last weekend.
