I watch this new trailer hoping that it will change my mind about the movie. And it's as if Universal Pictures heard the internet after the first trailer and went to do some extra shoots to include the father bits.
Those are the new scenes in this second trailer of Jem And The Holograms. But they did not make the movie more promising or more inline with the 80's cartoon series.
If the trailer is everything that the story beats will be in the movie, then I reemphasize that the movie will be a failure when it comes to keeping the core essence of the cartoon. Where are the holograms? That's the most basic thing about this property.
But if they are saving all the good stuff for the actual movie, then perhaps there is hope yet. Otherwise this movie is no different from anything else of the same genre.
Jem And The Holograms is directed by John M. Chu and will be out on 23 October 2015.
