Ouija 2 Gets Director And Lead
This I did not see coming. And I can't say I'm not surprised.
I didn't think the first Ouija movie was great by any stretch of the imagination. And I do not recall fans nor critics liking that movie. So even if the box office numbers came in great, and the movie made a lot of money for the studios, I would have thought it to be too risky to have a sequel.
Apparently Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures think otherwise. A date has already been set for the sequel's release, 21 October 2016.
Directing it will be Oculus' director Mike Flanagan, with a script that has been reported by The Hollywood Reporter as finished by Flanagan and his Oculus writer Jeff Howard.
The main cast leading the film will be another Oculus alum, Annalise Basso, who played the younger version of Karen Gillan's character in the aforementioned movie.
If a sequel was to be made to a recent horror flick from Blumhouse, I would have thought it would be Oculus actually. But it seems the people in that movie are brought back to produce a weaker title. Go figure.
