Ted 2 (7.5/10)

Surprisingly, Ted 2 was better than expected. When I saw the trailers, and I mean all the trailers, I thought the movie was going to be a train wreck like A Million Ways To Die In The West - also directed by Seth MacFarlane. But I was pleasantly surprised.

No, it did not exceed the first one. But it was a good sequel to it. I laughed out loud so many times, and one of the best jokes was one involving Jonah Hill's name. That killed it - but I acknowledge that not everyone will appreciate it.

Most of the jokes landed. Some even needed a second for it to sink in, like the one-liner delivered by Sam Jones about protein for when shipwrecked. I thought that was awesome. And a lot of the Comic Con jokes would not have worked on the casual cinema-goers, but for the geeks like me, everything from then onwards were just so fun and memorable.

And that one joke about Mattel killed it but I was the only one in the cinema laughing.

There were a few cameos that really worked, the SNL sketch was brilliant; but some others like Dennis Haysbert didn't really go anywhere.

What didn't work for me was the pacing. Starting from the road trip to the barn in the middle of nowhere was completely unnecessary. It felt like half an hour wasted on some plot development that would have been covered much better towards the end. That took a lot out of the enjoyment of the movie.

Also the chemistry between Mark Wahlberg and Amanda Seyfried did not work at all once they started falling for each other.

Ted the bear was still fun to watch. Although that novelty of seeing a cursing and pot-smoking stuffed animal has worn off a little, but his chemistry with Wahlberg was still golden and carried the entire movie.

Though perhaps two steps down from the first movie, this was still an entertaining, R-rated comedy.
