The surprise hit of 2014, John Wick, starring an almost unbankable Keanu Reeves back then; has become such a beloved property that a sequel was quickly developed by Lionsgate and filming begins this very week.
The Hollywood Reporter brings word yesterday that Common has been cast as the bad guy who will be squaring off against Reeves in this sequel. Common's character is said to be the head of security for a female crime lord; although no word yet as to who will be playing her or if she will be an action-oriented character too.
The first movie was directed by Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, but only Stahelski will be directing the sequel. Screenwriter Derek Kolstad also returns to pen for the sequel.
Still no official date of release for 2016 yet.
