Tom Cruise is a very smart businessman, and an actor. He is going all out in the action movies and is creating franchises as he goes along.
Jack Reacher was never the big hit like Mission: Impossible, nor critically acclaimed like Edge Of Tomorrow. But Cruise saw a potential for another movie and went for it.
But this time is without writer-director Christopher McQuarrie, who will only serve as producer alongside Cruise.
In the director's chair will be Blod Diamond and The Last Samurai helmer, Edward Zwick; with a screenplay co-written by Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz - both of whom have worked together on The Last Samurai, also starring Cruise.
The official title for this sequel is Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, based on Lee Childs 18th novel for the Jack Reacher series. Filming has begun today as reported by ComingSoon.
Cobie Smulders from Avengers is also co-starring. The movie will be out on 21 October 2016.
