Christopher Nolan's Next Project Is Dunkirk

Warner Bros. today has confirmed that one of their biggest pull in 2017 will be Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk.

The movie already has a release date of 21 July 2017 (which was previously announced back in September), and filming will begin in May of 2016.

Dunkirk is described as an "epic action thriller" with an original screenplay by Nolan, and possibly his brother Jonathan as well. The movie is set during the legendary eight-days evacuation of Dunkirk during World War II that went on to save the lives of 338,226 soldiers from an impending invasion.

Nolan is now targeting to cast unknowns as the lead, but also eyeing Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance and Tom Hardy in supporting leads.

Finally Nolan is stepping away from the fantasy and action genre and into something that is more grounded and based on real events. This already sounds like an Oscar contender and reminds me of Saving Private Ryan.
