Star Wars' Second Weekend In Top 10 Of US Box Office History, Crosses USD 1 Billion
The second weekend for box office numbers are in, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens is continuing its rampage of wreaking records and setting them higher.
According to BoxOfficeMojo, the movie brought in USD 149.2 million over the holiday weekend; it is now USD 544 million for the US market and another USD 546 million internationally - making it the fastest movie to cross USD 1 billion in 12 days. Jurassic World did it in 13 days, but it did it with the help of China market.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens has not even opened in China!
For the US numbers, if you do a bit of ranking on your own on BoxOfficeMojo's all-time box office weekend numbers, you will realise that The Force Awakens's second weekend is sitting on the 10th spot. The other top nine spots are actually other movie's opening weekends!
Let me rephrase that a little differently: While The Force Awakens' opening weekend takes the top spot, only nine other movies had an opening weekend that is higher than Star Wars' second weekend in the history of box office weekends. Crazy.
