Harrison Ford's Blade Runner 2 Starts Filming This July

The very long gestating sequel to 1982's hit sci-fi film Blade Runner will start production in the summer and filming is confirmed to begin in July, according to Collider today.

Rumours of a reboot or a sequel has been going on for the past two years and at one point there was even questions of its possibility.

Today we not only learn that Ryan Gosling is confirmed to star, but Harrison Ford will also reprise his role as the iconic Rick Deckard, cementing that the new movie will indeed be a sequel.

But the good news doesn't stop just there, for Denis Villeneuve is set to direct, from a script co-written by Hampton Fancher who also co-wrote the original with Ridley Scott, and Villeneuve's cinematography partner Roger Deakins is also onboard.

Villeneuve and Deakins have worked together in Prisoner and Sicario, and from those two movies we can very well expect that the new Blade Runner will be very beautiful.

Expect the sequel to be released by 2017, with the story taking place a few decades after the original story ended.
