After having been rumoured for a couple of weeks, today according to The Hollywood Reporter, Jet Li has officially signed on to star opposite Vin Diesel in Diesel's return to the xXx franchise, xXx 3: The Return Of Xander Cage.
While the direct sequel to xXx starring Ice Cube was a major flop, Diesel and Revolution Studios are aiming to reinvigorate the action-spy property with Diesel's return - a la the Fast And Furious franchise.
Earlier this month, Nina Dobrev and Ruby Rose were added to the cast; but no confirmation was given yet on the rumoured name list that was Li and Tony Jaa. So now, only Jaa remains unconfirmed while Li is said to play one of the bad guys - but may not end up being the main antagonist.
Filming will begin later this month and is likely to see a release date in 2017.
