New Release Dates, Changes Including Star Wars Episode VIII, Spider-Man, Etc

What a crazy day to wake up to today in the movie world. There are a lot of movements in the release dates by studios with their major blockbusters. Including, sadly, Star Wars Episode VIII.

Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm - very strangely, but may be not a complete surprise - have delayed the next installment to release in December once again; moving the franchise permanently, it seems, to be dominating the Christmas season.

Previously to be released on 26 May 2017, which is just less than six months from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. But now Episode VIII will be released on 15 December 2017, and I'm guessing the studios are very happy with how a Star Wars movie can perform in December and wants to do the same thing again, every year. Who can blame them? The Force Awakens has broken every possible box office record in the US.

Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One will now compete with Episode VIII, but perhaps not for long as I think Speilberg would not want to compete with Star Wars.

Taking over the original Episode VIII release date of 26 May 2017, Disney has moved Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales up from a July date.

In another studio, Sony Pictures has moved into Pirates' original date. The Spider-Man reboot with Tom Holland has moved three weeks earlier up to 7 July 2017.

The recently announced Jumanji remake by Sony to open during Christmas is no longer the case and Jumanji will now take the Spider-Man original spot of 28 July 2017.

Paramount Pictures has announced a release date for their upcoming Baywatch movie, and the red swim-shorts will now open on 19 May 2017, now that Episode VIII is no longer in sight.

The May date previously belonged to Paramount's Terminator sequel, but the troubled franchise no longer has a release date.
