Star Wars: The Force Awakens Fastest To Cross USD 1.5 Billion
As of today, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has crossed the USD 1.5 billion mark globally with just 19 days after release as it gets ready to become the highest grossing movie of all time.
In the US market, the Disney juggernaut has already beaten Jurassic World's record of USD 652.3 million and will soon take over Avatar's USD 760.5 million as the number one movie in US.
Within the US, it has become the fastest movie to cross USD 700 million mark; ahead of Avatar which did it in 72 days. Its global standing currently is at the sixth position after passing Avengers: Age Of Ultron (USD 1.405 billion) and will soon beat Furious 7 (USD 1.515 billion) and Avengers (USD 1.519 billion).
Whether it can break the record of Avatar's global gross of USD 2.788 billion is still a question but all signs are pointing to Star Wars doing just that. We'll have a better idea once the movie opens in China on 9 January 2016.
