I didn't even know that Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment are creating a new animated movie until this first teaser trailer is released.
And the only reason it caught my eye is because of the huge names that it has managed to assemble for its voice cast.
Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Seth McFarlane, John C Reilly, Taron Egerton and Tori Kelly all will be providing voices for these animated animals.
The trailer is almost like it jumped out of the first episode of the TV show "American Idol". And nothing looks original. The hit songs that the animals are doing are supposed to win us over but to me it's just dull. Even the last scene in this trailer did not make me smile.
Even the poster looks like it's trying too hard to bank on those names rather than introduce us to the characters of the movie.
But because of its cast, I'll still give it the benefit of the doubt at this point. The movie will be out on 21 December 2016.
