Jurassic World Sequel Announces J.A. Bayona As Director

Jurassic World unexpectedly became the biggest movie of 2015, after Star Wars: The Force Awakens of course; no one expected to beat that movie, and definitely not "unexpectedly". And responsible for a big part of the overall success was director Colin Trevorrow, who also co-wrote the script with Derek Connolly.

Now that Trevorrow has been snatched up by Star Wars Episode IX, another director by the name of J.A. Bayona has just been confirmed to stepping in for the sequel, according to ComingSoon. However, Trevorrow and Connolly will still provide the script.

Bayona recently did The Impossible with Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts, which critics have loved. It was a very well made natural disaster movie, so Bayona should not have a problem transitioning to another kind of disaster.

The sequel will once again star Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, and is scheduled to be released on 22 June 2018.
