Robert Downey Jr Joins Spider-Man: Homecoming, Michael Keaton Out

Not that it rarely happens, but sometimes it's disappointing when it does. In this case,  it's such a pity. The negotiations for Michael Keaton to appear in next year's Sony Pictures reboot of Spider-Man, subtitled Homecoming, is now off.

According to Coming Soon (via one of The Hollywood Reporter's writers, the negotiations "never got past the offer stage" with reasons not disclosed at this point.

The other better news is that we now know who from the Marvel Cinematic Universe will make a cameo in the movie, and it's MCU's golden boy, Iron Man / Tony Stark.

Robert Downey Jr. will once again don the goatee to help bring this new Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland, onto the silver screen come 7 July 2017.
