The movie first appeared during last year's film festival season but, correct me if I'm wrong, movies that appear in film festivals are seldom the fantasy and CGI-heavy type. Nevertheless, this movie must have done well enough and is now reaching a wider audience through IFC Films this month.
Tale Of Tales is the kind of fantasy stories that I like. The twisted and dark fairy tales, just like Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth.
Starring Selma Hayek, John C. Reilly, Toby Jones and Vincent Cassel; this trailer shows just the right amount of dark and twisted to hook me in. The only downside of it is the CGI affects that look unfinished but that is probably how they would look in the actual movie because not enough budget was pumped into it.
Directed by Matteo Garrone as his first English movie, Tale Of Tales comes out on 22 April 2016.
