Jonas Cuaron, son of Gravity director and Academy Award winner Alfonso Cuaron, who also co-wrote Gravity with his father, is rebooting the Zorro franchise.
And today Deadline has confirmed the actor who will don the eye mask and black fedora will be Gael Garcia Bernal. Not an instantly recognizable name at all, Bernal has appeared in smaller roles in smaller movies. His most notable role may be in Alfonso Cuaron's earlier work, Y Tu Mama Tambien.
The reboot will be set in the future and also be simply titled Z, though it has evolved from Zorro Reborn. No word yet on a release date but it should be as early as 2017.
