Warner Bros. Pictures is developing a Mandrake The Magician movie with director Etan Cohen and according to The Tracking Board, they have signed on Sacha Baron Cohen to lead the movie.
Etan Cohen is known more as a writer, his previous screenplays include Tropic Thunder, Men In Black 3, and Get Hard - which he directed as well.
However, Tropic Thunder is the only one that I really enjoyed, although I haven't seen Get Hard. But Cohen isn't writing the screenplay for Mandrake so I can't say I'm onboard with this movie just yet; especially when I've only enjoyed Sacha Baron Cohen in supporting roles.
Mandrake was created back in 1934 by Lee Falk, and is a hypnosis and illusion specialist that uses his abilities to fight crime alongside Lothar, the strongest man alive.
No word yet on an official release date.
