The origin story of the Wicked Witch of the West is one of broadway's longest running musical and is still playing today. And according to ComingSoon, Universal Pictures is finally making a live-action adaptation for the silver screen.
A director is also already confirmed with Stephen Daldry, whose most famous work was Billy Elliot, set to helm the movie; and produced by Marc Platt, who produced Into The Woods.
Universal has placed this to come out on 20 December 2019, competing somewhat with Star Wars VIII.
