Twentieth Century Fox's manga adaptation to live-action, Alita: Battle Angel, is making some headway as Christoph Waltz has entered into negotiations to join the cast.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Waltz is eyeing the role of Dr. Dyson Ido, a cybersurgeon who finds Alita, to be played by Rosa Salazar, and becomes a father-figure to her.
Alita tells a story of a female cyborg found in a scrapyard by Ido with no memory of her past except her deadly martial arts training.
To be directed by Robert Rodriguez, the movie is scheduled for a 20 July 2018 release.
