Legendary Pictures has some update on their long-gestating project based on Mattel toy line, Hot Wheels.
Today, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the movie has just found its director in the Fast And Furious and Star Trek Beyond helmer, Justin Lin.
Lin's Star Trek sequel may not have achieved commercial success but it was beloved by critics and fans. Just that the initial marketing was horrible and might have turned off a lot of their potential audience.
However, I can see how Lin is the perfect fit for Hot Wheels, on paper at least. The project definitely can benefit a lot from Lin's experience in not just a movie involving car racing or in the big blockbuster scale, but also in creating a franchise and giving it longevity.
Lin and his Perfect Storm Entertainment will co-produce as well. No word yet on a release date for the project.
