According to Variety, director Curtis Hanson has passed away at age 71 due to illness.
Hanson was the acclaimed director for films such as L.A. Confidential, The River Wild, Wonder Boys and 8 Mile.
He has also won an Academy Award for the screenplay of L.A. Confidential.
Hanson hasn't done a whole lot of directing in his lifetime, but those that he did and stood out, those really left an impression.
