Guy Ritchie To Direct Disney's Live-Action Aladdin

Walt Disney Pictures is remaking a whole lot of their classic animated movies, and Aladdin is in that schedule.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter has bring word that Disney is courting director Guy Ritchie to helm their movie.

John August, writer for Frankenweenie, Corpse Bride and Big Fish, has written the screenplay and will supposedly keep most of the songs.

Ritchie wouldn't have been someone that immediately thought of for this movie but he may be able to throw us a curve ball and surprise everyone. He is a good director, but his style is very distinct so he may have to lose some of what he's comfortable with in order to show us what this whole new world looks like.

No word yet on a release date.
