With the success of The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau, Walt Disney Pictures has already announced The Jungle Book 2, to be directed by Favreau as well.
But it doesn't stop there with the collaboration between studio and director, as Collider has reported that Disney is appointing Favreau once again to direct a CGI-filled outing for a reboot of another, even greater Disney classic, The Lion King.
Favreau is once again busy with Disney, which kind of kills the speculation that Favreau could direct a Star Wars movie next.
No release date has been set as of now, but The Lion King may just come out before The Jungle Book 2 (which could be Christmas of 2018) as Favreau hinted at this in his Twitter account.
