[Review] Storks (8.5/10)
Here's a pleasant surprise. Most of the trailers from Warner Bros. Pictures have been crap except for maybe one. I was going to skip this movie entirely until all the overwhelmingly positive reviews came in and I changed my mind about it.
And I honestly could not remember when was the last time I laughed this hard, this long, at the cinemas. The call-back to the glass joke was the best.
Thinking back, somehow the humour in the trailers never appealed to me but they worked completely in the context they were presented. The main voice actors between Andy Samberg and Katie Crown worked splendidly. But not only that, the rest of the cast were equally brilliant.
The wolf pack led by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele in particular were the best highlights for the movie, as with Stephen Kramer Glickman's voicing of the very annoying Pigeon Toady.
The direction by Nicholas Stoller and Doug Sweetland kept the movie fast pace for the most part and as an audience member I was fully engaged.
The only negative I would say was the climactic battle at the end where it got too big for what was necessary of the story. Had they kept it smaller and simpler, I probably would have enjoyed it more.
Overall, this was a great adventure story with a lot of heart and equally great story telling.
