Universal Studios To Develop Live-Action Voltron

Some have wondered when the 80's cartoon series Voltron was going to get a big screen adaptation after the new series has gotten a reboot recently.

Some have also wanted this to happen sooner than the upcoming Power Rangers live-action movie developed by Lionsgate.

So now, Deadline is reporting that Universal Studios has Watchmen and X-Men screenplay writer David Hayter creating a draft. The report also stated that this title is inherited and no firm decision has been given to start production unless the studio sees the potential in Hayter's draft.

But if Power Rangers is a hit, it is very likely Universal will put more effort into speeding things up and getting this off the ground when Power Rangers opens in March next year.

The original series ran for only about a year but it has become a pop culture phenomena. I too enjoyed its short run more than anything from the 90's so I'm hoping to see a live-action version as well.
