David F. Sandberg To Direct DC's Shazam
Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema may have found their director for DC's Shazam, according to The Wrap last week.
One person who should be ecstatic would be Dwayne Johnson as he has bee attached to this project since 2014. But because it's a DC property under WB, they are only now able to have some semblance of "getting shit together" for Shazam.
Breakout director, David F. Sandberg, from Lights Out is in negotiations to direct Shazam; probably bring some "fun" elements to the movie since WB is so obsessed with that word for DC so far.
However, Shazam is under New Line and may not be connected to the DCEU; meaning that we may not see any other DC characters that has already appeared in film so far.
Sandberg seems to be doing well for himself. Lights Out performed well for a tiny budget that it had. His Annabelle 2 will be out this year and Lights Out 2 is also in the works under New Line. The studio has a lot of confidence in him so that's great to know.
Shazam was previously announced to be released on 5 April 2019, but with their recent messy record, anything can happen here. Sandberg could drop out after a month.
