[Review] Green Room (8.5/10)
Green Room was one of those small, independent movies that never got the exposure it desperately deserved because it was one of the best for last year.
Written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier; and with a small cast led by Anton Yelchin, Patrick Stewart and Imogen Poots. All of them delivered very credible American accents, as well as their most memorable performances.
Yelchin never looked this vulnerable, the fear his character felt was expressed in a very real way and you could feel it through your screen. Stewart never looked this scary and he was able to exude that intimidation. As for Poots, I never liked her when she first appeared but after this, I thought she nailed her role.
The direction by Saulnier was brilliant and intense, but never going overboard. He focused on just enough details to show you what happened but still left you to your imaginings so that you could create even more fear in your own mind. His scenes always felt raw and real, and that was equally reflected through the background music and song selection. He is definitely someone to look out for.
This is definitely one of my favourites of the year and Yelchin's best before leaving us.
